With so much hype surrounding countless fad diets, how could you know which ones or if any actually work?
In a new review published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, researchers looked at almost 40 years of fad and controversial diets and debunked the myths on which are healthy and can reduce heart disease, an outcome of obesity.
Lead author and cardiologist, Dr. Andrew Freeman, explains
“There is a great amount of misinformation about nutrition fads, including antioxidant pills, juicing and gluten-free diets. However, there are a number of dietary patterns that have clearly been demonstrated to reduce the risk of many chronic diseases, including coronary heart disease.”
